Ebony

Ebony has been used as a wood for classical furniture, musical instruments and writing pens for hundreds of years.  While many types of ebony wood are no longer available to use due to conservation efforts, some forms of ebony are still available.  Gaboon Ebony is the most popular which is typically a jet-black, but can often be colored a dark brown or have dark brown streaks.  Black and White ebony is a tan wood with dark streaks of black that give a dramatic appearance to the wood.  Both originate from West Africa and make beautiful pens.
